Spyros Kotsalas

Born in Chalkida, Greece, in 1960. He took hagiography classes on Agion Oros in 1979. He studied free painting with Brasidas Vlachopoulos and Tassos Rigas, conservation of icons and paper with Antonis Glinos and paleography at the National Bank Foundation 1981-1984. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts 1985-1990, at the studios of Vaggelis Dimitreas and Nikos Kessanlis. He graduated with honors. He has held eleven solo exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.His work can be found in the collection of the Ministry of Culture, the Komotini Municipal Gallery in Greece, the Osaka Centre for Contemporary Art in Japan and private collections in Greece and overseas, Cyprus, England, USA, Belgium and Switzerland.
He worked as a professor and between 2014-2015 he collaborated with Dimitris Papaioannou for the setting of the first European games in Azerbaijan. He lives and works in Athens, Greece.
