Timos Batinakis

Timos Batinakis was born in Athens in 1968. He took his first drawing and painting lessons in the workshop of Nikos Stefos. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts from 1988 to 1993 with professor P. Tetsis. At the same time, he attended sculpture, hagiography and fresco painting classes at the optional laboratories. During his studies he received scholarships from State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and then in 2007 he was honored with the prize of the Academy of Athens for a young painter under 40 years old. From 1993 to 1998 he worked in the laboratory for the preparation of candidates for the School of Fine Arts of N. Stefos. From 1999 until today he maintains a drawing and painting workshop in Athens, while in 2018 he co-founded the Study of drawing & painting for the systematic preparation of candidates.
He has held two solo exhibitions and has participated in over 60 group exhibitions, as well as in Art Athina 2015 and 2017. He has done extensive research on the technology of materials (paints, media, varnishes, preparations, etc.) used by his grandmaîtres 16th and 17th c. and based on these standards he manufactures the materials he uses for his works.
